Honoring Jan Cardwell
Mom taught me to trust God, love family, protect nature, care for children, and to take life’s ups and downs in stride. Her life was about caring for others.

For her, I think the most upsetting part of her 15 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease was feeling less and less useful and ultimately having to let others take care of her. Even in her confusion she wanted to be the caregiver.
She died in May 2016. Her smile and her giving heart are unforgettable and inspiring.
I volunteer on the Walk Committee because I want to improve the quality of life for future generations by finding a cure for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
